The Steamship Historical Society of America is the premier organization for all engine-powered ships, with the Southern California Chapter its largest and most active branch.
​
Whether you are a ship history buff, maritime collector, or artist, former, or current ship crew member, professional historian, Navy veteran, or maritime academy alum, or maybe a scuba diver looking to learn more about your latest underwater discovery, SSHSA-SoCal is the place for you!

​Benefits of a SSHSA-Southern California Chapter membership include quarterly social meetings held aboard the legendary RMS Queen Mary, with programs on both historic and current maritime subjects.
SoCal's quarterly programs are held on the first Saturday of February, May, August, and November aboard the Queen Mary, and via Zoom.
​
The November program coincides with our annual membership meeting where directors are elected to the chapter board.
​

The Ocean Times, SoCal's e-journal, is published quarterly, and offers the reader a variety of West Coast and Pacific Ocean-related* maritime topics penned by chapter members, and others.

*Ok, we're not total snobs; we do allow the occasional transatlantic liner. After all, we do meet on the Queen Mary.
